About the Event
SCCUR is an annual research conference held in southern California where students from all disciplines, including the sciences, humanities, social sciences, arts, and performing arts, are invited to present their research findings. SCCUR typically draws 800-1200 participants, mainly undergraduates and their faculty mentors, administrators, and community college and high school students. Proceeds from SCCUR 2019 go towards funding student research and travel scholarships at CSUSM.
In 2019, SCCUR will take place in San Diego county for the first time, hosted by California State University, San Marcos. As a Hispanic-Serving Institute and an Asian American Native American Pacific Islander-Serving Institute, CSUSM is home to a very diverse student population, with over half being first-generation college students. CSUSM also has the highest per capita Student Veteran population of any of the CSUs.
Our keynote speaker for 2019, Dr. John Warner, is President and Chief Technology Officer of Warner Babcock Institute for Green Chemistry. He will lecture on efforts to make green technology truly clean and help us reach the “world we want.”
